Virtual Interviews

Interviews that cut cleanly and look considered — in the room, fully remote, or a mix — recorded once, at full quality on every angle, with a synced project handed to your editor.

Set design, lighting, multiple cameras — fully in-person, fully remote, or a mix of the two. We shoot executive and subject interviews to a broadcast standard and record them once, at full quality on every angle, so the edit has everything it needs.

The brief

Interviews that cut cleanly, looked considered, and could be captured in a single session whether the participants were together in a room or on different continents — with a finished result that matched across in-person and remote contributors.

How we produced it

A designed set with the background six to eight feet behind the subject and lit on its own, so it falls into soft focus. Controlled three-point lighting — a shaped key, a softer fill, and a back light to lift the subject off the set. A two- or three-camera setup, all on one side of the line and matched in colour: an A-camera tight on the subject, a B-camera for the two-shot or a clean profile, and an optional C-camera on the interviewer.

Broadcast audio with lavalier and boom microphones, recorded as isolated tracks. An eyeline monitor beside the A-camera lens so the subject looks almost down the barrel — and when the interviewer is remote, their face goes on that monitor, so the subject talks to a person rather than a dot.

Where a script mattered — an exact figure, a compliance line, wording that could not drift between takes — we mounted a teleprompter on the A-camera and ran a scroll operator, keeping the interview answers conversational and the scripted lines precise.

Remote contributors, done properly

A video call is a delivery format, not a recording format — it is compressed, it drops frames, and it bakes in whatever the guest's network did that day. So we never rely on it. We brought each remote subject in with a program return feed and mix-minus audio, ran a technical check before the shoot day, recorded the incoming feed at full quality on our side as a safety copy, and had the guest record locally and send the clean file afterward. Every end was captured; everything was synced in post.

What we delivered

  • ISO recordings of every camera and every remote feed, at full quality
  • A synced multicam project, every angle lined up, ready for the editor
  • A graded master of the switched cut where we cut live
  • Captioned edits and vertical cut-downs for social, on request
  • A transcript of every interview

The result: interview footage that cut without jump cuts and held a consistent look across in-person and remote participants — usable for a thought-leadership series, executive communications, recruiting films, or a video podcast.
